Home The President

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT.

It is and honour and privilege to be elected as President of Fife Golfing Association for the next two years and I shall endeavour to help the Association progress as it has over the past years.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate the Immediate Past President David Mason for the dedication, time and service he has given during the past two years. I would also thank the Officials and Members of the Executive Council for the time and hard work in arranging tournaments, coaching, course rating etc. We are always looking for new members on the executive and I would urge any club member who may be interested in helping to contact their Club Secretary.

2010 has been a great year of achievement for Fife golfers with Peter Latimer [New GC], Greg Paterson [New GC], Brian Souter [Leven GS] and James White [Lundin GC] all finishing in the top ten of the SGU Order of Merit and representing Scotland in the Home Internationals at Ashburnham. Peter Latimer won the East of Scotland Championship at Lundin, James White the Sutherland Chalice at Dumfries and Galloway and Scorr Stewart-Cation the South East District Championship at Mortonhall. Scott Macdonald of Dunfermline GC won the Scottish Seniors Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Pollock GC and went on to represent Scotland in the Seniors Home Internationals held at Crail. Our Junior golfers have also performed well on the National stage - altogether a magnificent showing from the Fife Area.  I would also like to extend thanks to all Fife golfers who have represented the Area at all levels. Thanks are also due to our Professional coaches to whom a great deal of credit is due for the above performances.

On behalf of the Association I would like to thank the Captains, Committees and Members of the clubs who continue to extend the courtesy of their courses and clubhouse facilities for FGA events and meetings throughout the year. I look forward to attending as many of these events as possible and meeting members and officials during the coming year.

The success of the Association is helped greatly by the continued support of our many sponsors for which we are most grateful.

Finally I would wish another successful playing year to all Fife golfers and ask you all, in what are rather difficult times, to give as much support as possible to your clubs.
